Bluevine publishes its line of credit minimums

Bluevine's business line of credit page publishes its qualifying criteria twice, once as a list and once as a sentence, and the sentence is the more useful of the two because it states the annual equivalent of the monthly revenue figure rather than leaving the reader to multiply. Both are quoted verbatim in the record above with the date they were read.

The criteria, and the ones beyond the numbers

Beyond the score, the revenue and the twelve months, Bluevine's page also publishes structural requirements that the numeric record cannot hold: the business must be a corporation or a limited liability company, must have no bankruptcies on file, must be in good standing with its Secretary of State, and must be operating in an eligible state. Those are exclusions as real as the numbers, and a sole proprietorship clears none of them however good its file is.

Why the annual figure matters

Ten thousand dollars a month and a hundred and twenty thousand a year are the same requirement expressed two ways, and the difference matters to a seasonal business. A business averaging a hundred and twenty thousand a year with three quiet months does not make ten thousand every month. Bluevine's own wording puts both figures side by side, which is a small piece of honesty worth noting in a market where most lenders publish neither.

Common questions

What does Bluevine require for a line of credit?
Bluevine publishes a 625 or higher personal FICO score, ten thousand dollars in monthly revenue or a hundred and twenty thousand annually, and twelve or more months in business, plus incorporation as a corporation or LLC and no bankruptcies on file.
Can a sole proprietor use Bluevine?
Not on the published criteria. Bluevine's own page states the business must be a corporation or an LLC, which excludes a sole proprietorship regardless of its revenue or credit file.
