Bad credit business loan options, on published criteria
A bad credit business loan is not one product, it is the set of lenders whose published minimum is low enough to include you. That set is knowable in advance, and it is the entire reason this site exists: applying to a lender whose floor is six hundred and twenty-five with a file in the low five hundreds costs you a decline, a footprint and a week. Of the nine lenders here that publish a bar at all, the lowest published floor is five hundred and the median is six hundred.

Applying with imperfect credit without making it worse
- Find your actual number before anybody else does. Applying blind is what turns one decline into a visible pattern of them, and a pattern is itself a reason for the next lender to say no. Know the score you are working with before you spend a single application on finding it out.
- Apply only where the published floor is below your score. Two lenders in this record publish five hundred; one publishes five hundred on its equipment page specifically.
- Lead with what is strong. Consistent bank deposits, a contracted customer or a resaleable asset all carry weight that a score does not measure.
- Consider secured routes first. Equipment finance and invoice factoring both underwrite something other than your credit file, and both have lower effective bars than unsecured lending.
The published floors, and what sits below them
Two lenders in this record publish a five hundred credit score minimum for general business financing, and a third publishes five hundred on its equipment financing page against a hundred and fifty thousand dollars of annual revenue. One publishes six hundred, and three publish six hundred and twenty-five. That is the shape of the market a borrower with a damaged file is looking at: a small number of doors that are formally open, and a large number that will not say. Below five hundred, no lender in this record publishes a floor you clear, and the honest answer is that unsecured borrowing is very unlikely and secured borrowing is where to look.
Why factoring is the real answer for many bad-credit files
An invoice factoring company is not lending against your credit file, it is buying your customer's obligation to pay. Charter Capital publishes this explicitly, stating that there is no minimum credit score required and that anyone can be approved. That is a genuinely different door, and for a business that invoices other businesses on terms it is frequently the cheapest available money despite carrying a higher headline cost than a bank loan nobody will give you. The precondition is a ledger: if you are paid at the till or by consumers, factoring has nothing to work with.
What a bad credit facility actually costs
No lender in this record publishes its rates, so any number you are quoted should arrive in writing and be read carefully. What is predictable is the shape: shorter terms, more frequent repayments, often daily or weekly rather than monthly, a personal guarantee, and a total cost expressed as a factor rather than an interest rate. Convert every offer to a total cost of borrowing and a repayment per week before you compare two of them, because a factor rate of one point three over four months and one point four over nine months are not in the order they appear.
Common questions
- What is the lowest credit score a business lender will accept?
- Among the lenders in this record that publish a figure, five hundred is the lowest, and three lenders sit at that level for at least one product. Below five hundred no lender here publishes a floor that includes you, which does not mean no lender exists, only that none of them will say so in advance.
- Will applying and being declined make things worse?
- It can. Repeated applications in a short period leave a visible pattern, and some lenders treat that pattern itself as a reason to decline. That is the practical argument for applying only where the published floor already includes you, and for asking a lender that publishes nothing what its floor is before you formally apply.
- Can I get a business loan with bad credit and no collateral?
- It is the hardest combination in this market. The lenders publishing five hundred floors are pricing that risk into a short, expensive facility, and they will almost certainly want a personal guarantee, which is not collateral but is recourse. If you have receivables or equipment, secured routes will be both easier and cheaper.
